In this post, I share details of my research on Graco car seat expiration including brands such as Graco Snugride, Extend2Fit, Snuglock 35, and other non-Graco brands such as Britax. Car seats expire and that may surprise many. I, too, was surprised when I was doing my research the first time a few years back.
Graco Car Seat Expiration: Extend2Fit, Snugride 30, Snuglock 35, etc.
Different brands of Graco car seats have expiration periods of 7 to 10 years. In the list below, I have highlighted how long Graco car seats are good for:
- Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat – Expiry: 10 years
- Graco 4Ever DLX Convertible Car Seat– Expiry: 10 years
- Graco SnugRide SnugLock 35 Platinum Infant Car Seat– Expiry: 7 years
- Graco My Ride 65 Convertible Car Seat– Expiry: 7 years
- Graco SnugRide Essentials 30 Infant Car seat– Expiry: 7 years
- Graco TurboBooster 2.0 Highback Booster Car Seat: The Graco booster seat has 10 years of useful life from the date of manufacture
Graco Extend2Fit Expiration
The Graco Extend2Fit model boasts a longer expiration period of 10 years, which is 3 years more than the 7-year expiry period of both Graco SnugRide SnugLock 35 and Graco SnugRide Essentials 30. The Extend2Fit model has been designed to grow with your infant. Your infant can ride in the car facing backward (rear-facing) from 4 pounds until they reach 50 pounds and can use it forward-facing until they attain 65 pounds. The 4-position extension panel can be adjusted to provide an extra 5 inches of legroom, allowing your child to safely ride rear-facing for a longer period.
Graco 4Ever expiration:
The Graco 4Ever has an impressive extended lifespan of 10 years, similar to Extend2Fit, and 3 years less than the Graco SnugRide SnugLock 35 and Graco SnugRide Essentials 30. Similar to Extend2Fit, this model has been designed to grow with your baby and exceeds Extend2Fit’s weight limit by an impressive 55 pounds! The Graco 4Ever’s utility begins with a rear-facing harness suitable for babies weighing 4 to 40 pounds. It transitions to a forward-facing harness for weights between 22 to 65 pounds, then transforms into a highback belt-positioning booster for 40 to 100 pounds, and finally, a backless belt-positioning booster for 40 to 120 pounds.
GRACO SnugRide 35 Lite LX Expiration:
The Graco SnugRide 35 Lite LX has a 7-year expiration period, just like the SnugRide Essentials 30, aligning with the standard lifespan of most infant car seats. Unlike 4Ever and Extend2Fit car seats with 3 years more expiry period, SnugRide 35 Lite LX are only useful as rear-facing harness seats for kids weighing 4 to 35 pounds and not exceeding 32 inches.
You can check the expiry period of SnugRide 35 Lite LX on the back of the seat just below the model number as shown in the snapshots below;
When do Graco Car Seats Expire?

The “useful life” of belt-positioning boosters and steel-reinforced belt path car seats is defined as 10 years, while plastic-reinforced belt path car seats have a 7-year lifespan. Many of their convertible seats, such as the Extend2Fit and 4Ever DLX models, have a 10-year expiration period. On the other hand, Graco’s infant car seat brands, including SnugRide, Snuglock 35, and SnugRide 30, have a 6-year expiration period.

To locate the sticker, turn over the seat and check on the back, along the sides, or the bottom. Alternatively, some brands indicate the expiry date on the shell behind the cushion.
