Feeling frustrated and seeking to turn off your Owlet Dreamsock to escape its super loud lullaby that seems impossible to silence? I’ve been there and was super mad at how you can only pause it, with no option to adjust the volume or turn it off completely.

It can be even more exasperating when this Dreamsock chooses to ring endlessly while your baby simultaneously starts crying. It’s a complete and utter frustration! And it can go on all light!

Even when nothing has changed with the baby, the incessant, loud, and high-pitched sound can be so frequent that it becomes impossible to sleep through.

To avoid the disruptive noise caused by Dreamsock, the simplest solution is to completely turn off both the sock and base by unplugging the charging port. Unfortunately, there is no option for snoozing or temporarily silencing it. No option to change volume either.

Below are the steps recommended by Owlet to correctly turn off your Dreamsock and avoid any transmission or false alarms going off;

How to turn off Owlet Dreamsock:

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you turn off your Owlet Dreamsock, and hopefully provide some much-needed peace:

Step 1: Unplug the Base Station:

The first thing you need to do is unplug the base station from the wall outlet. This will ensure that no power is going to your Dreamsock.

Step 2: Turn off the Base Station:

Once unplugged, press and hold the power button on the base station until you hear the base station chirp 4 times and will start seeing its blink orange. Can release pressure from the button when you see the orange.

Step 3:Press power button again:

After releasing the power button in step 2, you will need to press and hold it again until you hear the base station chirp once and see the blinking orange light turn off.

Incorrect ways of turning off Owlet:

  1. Not pressing the power button after the orange color blinks and Owlet still thinks that you are trying to connect to the Sock or app and will start giving you ringing alerts with either blue (connection problems) or yellow(wrong sock placement)
  2. Trying to turn off your Dreamsock by pressing any other button on the base station, will not work as only the power button can help you do this.
  3. Not unplugging the base station
  4. Not removing the sock from your baby’s foot

Problems Turning Off Owlet Dreamsock:

  • Not always easy to turn it off from app: Sometimes, when you try to turn off the app, you might have to wait for up to 5 minutes for it to connect to the base station. During this time, it can be quite annoying as the loud, high-pitched sound is still going off. Not to mention Owlet’s connection issues.
  • You have to follow the steps to turn it off fast: The steps above need to be executed fast to successfully turn it off.
  • The base station does not respond: Sometimes, the base station may not respond by pressing the power button or unplugging it. In this case, you can try resetting the base station or contacting Owlet’s customer support for assistance.
  • Sock still connected to the app: If you try to turn off Owlet Dreamsock without first disconnecting it from the app, the sock may still show as connected in the app. Make sure to disconnect the sock from the app before attempting to turn it off.
  • Power button not working: If the power button on your Owlet base station is not working, you can try using the power button on the sock itself. Press and hold the button for 10 seconds to turn off the sock. You can also try to reset Owlet Dreamsock using these steps.

When to turn off Owlet Dreamsock:

  1. To clean it: It is recommended to turn off Owlet Dreamsock before cleaning it. This will prevent any accidental alerts or alarms.
  2. When the baby is not wearing the sock: If your baby does not require monitoring with the Dreamsock, you can turn it off to conserve battery life.
  3. When moving the base station: If you need to move your Owlet base station, make sure to turn it off before unplugging it. This will prevent any false alarms or alerts while the base station is not connected to power.
  4. During travel: If you are traveling with your Owlet Dreamsock, make sure to turn it off and pack it securely in its protective case.
  5. When switching socks: If you need to switch between multiple Dreamsocks, make sure to turn off the one your baby is currently wearing before putting on a new one.
  6. When it’s giving you false alerts and beeping loudly for no reason such as connection error. I have often found it so annoying that a slight movement of baby’s feet- not even 5 feet makes the base station go off because of a connection error.
  7. When not in use: If you are not using Owlet Dreamsock for an extended period, it is recommended to turn it off to conserve battery life and prevent any false alarms or alerts.
